Northwich's Winnington Bridge Repairs postponed due to coronavirus

A major project to repair Northwich’s Winnington Swing Bridge over the River Weaver Navigation has been postponed for several months due to the coronavirus outbreak

We have liaised with Cheshire West and Chester Council and decided that it is important to keep roads open and protect the dozens of workers involved in the project as the pandemic emergency sweeps across the country.

The postponement means that the planned closure of the bridge, scheduled for 10pm on Friday 3 April until 4am on Monday 6 April, will now not happen.

The Trust's expert engineering team will closely monitor the state of the bridge, which carries the A533 road between Northwich and Barnton, until the complex logistics for the joint repair project can be rescheduled – probably for the end of the summer.
