Model boats at the National Waterways Museum

The National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port is preparing for the start of its new season, which will kick off with its annual model boat fair on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March.

Organised by the museum in partnership with Ellesmere Port Model Boat Club, the weekend will see the museum basin and locks taken over by intricate radio controlled boats which will demonstrate their owner's skills at both model making and boat piloting.

The museum will also host a model boat exhibition and a market place where model boat traders will have all of the latest parts on offer.

Half price entry

To celebrate model boat fair and the start of the new season the museum is offering half price entry at just £3.

Museum marketing manager Oliver Briscoe said: “This event is the traditional start of the year for us, and it's a fascinating weekend contrasting our heavy metal collection of historic boats with the models on show, both the detailed miniatures and the remote control boats out on the water.”
