Hire a canoe on the Swansea canal

For the first time in some twenty years, those wishing to saunter down the Swansea Canal paddling a hired canoe will soon be able to do so.

On Sunday, March 30th at 11.00 am, the Swansea Canal Society will be launching its Community Canoe Hire Project from the slipway at Coed Gwilym Park, Clydach.

This project has been generously funded by SPLASH (Natural Resources Wales) and Sports Wales with the assistance of the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust, the City and County of Swansea, and the Canal & River Trust.

Each Sunday throughout spring and summer from 11am to 3pm, open canoes and sit-on-top kayaks will be available for hire. At present, the navigable section of the canal will be north from Coed Gwilym Park towards Trebanos for approximately half a mile. There will be two British Canoe Union qualified instructors present on March 30th.

Sessions for schools and similar organisations will be available on Tuesday mornings on request.

The project is manned by Swansea Canal Society volunteers so please see the Swansea Canal Society website for more information.
