Free paddle boarding fun in Weston Turville

People are being invited have a free go at paddle boarding, one the of the UK’s fastest growing water sports, at Weston Turville Reservoir in Buckinghamshire on Friday 14 August (5-7pm)

We're working in partnership with Sport England, the players of the People's Postcode Lottery and Chiltern Canoe Club to put on this event.

Stand up paddle boarding is similar to surfing but instead of riding the ocean waves, borders use a long board and a paddle to propel themselves along the water.

Joe Sammon, from the Canal & River Trust, said: “Paddle boarding is really easy to get into and is a great sport for beginners wanting to explore the waterways. As well as being easy to pick up, paddle boarding is also a great way to keep fit as you use all your major muscle groups to balance on the board and keep yourself moving.

“The relative calm waters of a local canal or reservoir are perfect to give paddle boarding a go, and once you get your balance, you'll be able to paddle for miles.”

Booking is essential to take part. To book your free 30 minute time slot please contact [email protected]. All equipment, including a buoyancy aid, will be provided. The event is open to anyone over 14 years of age.
