Free paddle boarding fun in Aylesbury

People are being invited to have a free go at paddle boarding and canoeing at Aylesbury Basin on Saturday 12 September (10am-3pm).

We are running this event together with the Chiltern Canoe Club and with the support of the players of the People's Postcode Lottery and Sport England. Anyone over 12 years old is able to take part, there is no need to book and all equipment is provided.

Stand up paddle boarding is one of the UK's fastest growing water sports, similar to surfing with boarders using a paddle to propel themselves along the water. The meeting point for the event is behind the Waterside Theatre (HP20 1UG).

Joe Sammon, from the Canal & River Trust, said: “Most people when they think of the Grand Union Canal will probably think about narrowboats, but there are more and more people trying out different forms of exercise and ways to get onto the water.

“We're really pleased to be putting on this event to offer the chance to discover the waterway, have fun and get some exercise, all at the same time. I'd encourage anyone keen to give canoeing or paddle boarding a go to come along and join us.”
