The charity making life better by water

Family fun day at Bingley this weekend

Our education volunteers, known as the Canal & River Explorers, will be running a family fun day at Bingley Five Rise Locks on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal this Sunday (8 June).

A day of activities will enable families to learn all about the wildlife on their doorstep and the history of this 200-year old living museum. Activities include a geocaching trail, a canal ‘I Spy'; a chance to discover what lurks below the water; a chance to make your own duck hat and much more. Refreshments will be available in the Five Rise Locks Café.

Angling sessions

Bingley Angling Club will also be holding some angling taster sessions below Five Rise Locks for anyone to come and try fishing and learn about the different species of fish that live in the waterways.

Katie Jackson, education coordinator at the Canal & River Trust said: “We would love to see lots of families come down to the family fun day at Bingley Five Rise Locks and join in with the fantastic fun events. There's so much to discover along your local canal and being beside the water, in the fresh air is a great way for families to enjoy quality time together.”
