Exciting new look for the Stillwater Championships in 2018

The popular Stillwater Championships, organised by us and the Angling Trust are returning for 2018 with a brand-new name and format.

Boddington Reservoir

The new Boddington Classic will see three qualifying rounds taking place on one of the Canal & River Trust's most prolific fisheries, Boddington Reservoir, set in the Northamptonshire countryside. The fishing promises to offer some big match weights for all who take part.

Each 50 peg qualifier will see the top two anglers in each section go through to a 30 peg final held at Boddington Reservoir on Saturday 28th July 2018.

Qualifiers will take place on:

  • Saturday 5th May 2018 (Qualifier 1) x 50 pegs
  • Sunday 3rd June 2018 (Qualifier 2) x 50 pegs
  • Wednesday 11th July 2018 (Qualifier 3) x 50 pegs

John Ellis, our national fisheries & angling manager said: "The Stillwater Championships have always proved really popular, with anglers of all ages, but this year's revamped competition promises to be even better. Boddington is a fantastic venue, offering some big weights so we're expecting a really competitive event."

James Lewis Angling Trust competitions development manager added; "We've listened closely to the feedback coming from anglers from the previous year's competition and taken the decision to revamp the contest into the Boddington Classic. It was certainly the stand out venue in the calendar and we're hopeful of further big weights to come this year.'"

Tickets will be available to book from 10.30am on Monday 26th February 2018. Applications for tickets will open via the Angling Trust's online booking system www.anglingtrustevents.net at a cost of £25 per entrant, payable at the time of entry. £20.00 payment is also payable on the day of the qualifiers (this is for peg & optional pools payments).

The prize pot for the final could be over £3,000 (dependent on sell out of all qualifiers subject to entries and sponsorship) with the winner also being crowned the Angling Trust and Canal & River Trust CRT Boddington Classic Champion 2018.

Tickets for Wednesday qualifiers will go off-sale at 10.30am on the Monday before and for weekend qualifiers tickets will stop being sold at 3.30pm on the Wednesday before. Everyone taking part must have individual membership of the Angling Trust and will need their membership number and unique log-in details for the booking site to apply for tickets
