Community spruces up canal in Croxley Green

A group of volunteers in Croxley Green, Rickmansworth have tidied up their local stretch of the Grand Union Canal.

Working alongside Croxley Green Parish Council and our staff the group helped to repaint Common Moor Lock, cut back overgrown shrubs and bushes and remove several bags of rubbish from the towpath

Miriam Tedder, volunteer coordinator for the Canal & River Trust, said: “This is the first time we've had the local community helping out in this part of the Grand Union Canal and they have all done a brilliant job. We had a great day and I am delighted with the support we've had. I can already see a massive improvement to this part of the waterway and I hope boaters and visitors really appreciate all their hard work.”

Barry Grant, from Croxley Green Residents Association, said: “We all had a great time helping to tidy up this really popular part of the waterways. I only live round the corner and regularly visit the canals to escape from the hustle and bustle. We've all had a great day and loved the opportunity to give something back to our local community.”
