Taking place on 28 and 29 September on the Birmingham Main Line Canal alongside the National Indoor Arena, this two-day event will be opened by Canal & River Trust chairman, Tony Hales. With over 20 moorings reserved for floating traders demand is expected to be high and boating businesses are being urged to reserve their space at the market now.
During the weekend the canal is expected to be real hub of activity packed with narrow boats selling everything from books, cheeses, handicraft, fashion and a whole variety of food.
Diverse and fun
Tony says: “I'm delighted we can welcome this floating marketing to Birmingham and show off just how diverse and fun the canals can be. Last year we held our first floating market along the canal in London and I'm sure this one will be just as big a success.”
Peter Mathews CMG, chair of the West Midlands waterways partnership, said: “We want to get as many people as possible to visit Birmingham's waterways for this fun weekend. There will be lots of exciting things to do, see and eat. It should be a really great family day out.”
