A49 over acton bridge reopened to traffic

Acton Bridge, which carries the A49 road over the River Weaver, is now fully open to two lanes of road traffic again, following emergency repairs of the bridge deck.

We used contractors to install a number of steel strengthening panels to the northbound carriageway over the weekend. Cheshire West & Chester Council, which is responsible for maintaining the road, spent Monday re-surfacing the affected areas and both lanes were operating normally again by late evening.

The traffic was reduced to one lane after potential issues with the structure were identified by Cheshire West & Chester Council during routine road maintenance works on Friday 5 December.
