We love and care for your canals and rivers, because everyone deserves a place to escape.

Sometimes the only way to understand why we love our canals and tunnels so much is to take to the water on one of our boat trips.

2 hour through trips – go all the way

Family visits at Standedge

Take a trip all the way through and explore deep into Standedge Tunnel. The journey lasts two hours and will give you a real in-depth insight into the history of our 200-year old tunnel. There are two trips on each of the through trip open days. See dates and times below.

For the morning trip a taxi will bring you back from Diggle. In the afternoon, the taxi will take you to Diggle before your trip.

And please remember to wrap up warm as the tunnel remains a cool temperature all year round.

Please note: through trips are not suitable for under 8s.

So a taxi ride back from your 2 hour through tunnel trip seems a bit too modern for you? We’ve got it covered. On the selected dates below you can join our guided walk back to your starting point – either Marsden or Diggle – following the route of the old pack horses. You’ll need some warm clothing for the tunnel and good footwear as the moors can be muddy under foot.
