Planning an event
We are continuing to follow UK Government Covid advice around events and activities taking place on our property and if advice changes we will refresh this page.
Throughout the year hundreds of events take place. From sponsored walks to bike rides, canoe challenges to dragon boat racing, duck races to festivals, the waterways offer something for all event organisers.
All events, on the water or adjacent towpath, require the Canal & River Trust's agreement to take place and ideally a minimum of three months notice (30 days to turn around an application). This helps us ensure the event is planned safely, that it does not clash with other events or maintenance work and that the needs of our regular customers can be considered.
On the online application form area, each organiser once registered will have a live dashboard where they can view what stage their event application is up to.
To apply for permission to hold your event, just follow the steps below.
- fill in the online event application form and include your risk assessment and public liability insurance
- after we have assed your application and we have confirmed we will issue an Event agreement (terms & conditions, this is for us to issue)
Each week we receive numerous requests to promote events along our waterways that are raising funds for other causes. While we applaud this, we're afraid that we can't promote them all for you. However if you're interested in raising money for the Canal & River Trust then get in touch and we'll give you all the help we can.
