We are pleased to advise the works to repair the damaged culvert between Lock 81 and Lock 83 on the Rochdale Canal have been successful and navigation has resumed.

Investigations into the damaged culvert have now concluded and the repair works have started onsite between Lock 81 and Lock 83 on the Rochdale Canal.
For the safety of our customers, the towpath and canal navigation will remain closed.
We anticipate works will take 6 weeks and an update will be provided Friday 23 October.

Please be advised the towpath is closed to public access to support a safe working environment as we continue to work on a repair to the damaged culvert between Lock 81 and Lock 83 on the Rochdale Canal.
The towpath will be closed between Bridge 87, Butler Street Bridge and Rodney Street Footbridge.
An update on works needed to repair the damaged culvert will be provided as planned tomorrow, Wednesday 9 September.

The canal has now been dewatered between the dams placed around the damaged culvert between Lock 81 and Lock 83 on the Rochdale Canal.
Investigations continue as to ascertain the source of the leak, once this has been established, works to repair the damage will commence.
An update will be provided Wednesday 9 September.

Please be advised our contractors are installing dams onsite today. The dams are being placed in the canal around the damaged culvert.
Once the dams are in place, our engineers and contractors will then be able to fully investigate the fault. Navigation will remain closed whilst we carry out these investigations and assessed a plan for the repair.
We will provide a further update on Wednesday 2nd September.
