Please be advised we have removed the padlocks from Lock 65 and Lock 79 on the Rochdale Canal. Customers no longer need to book passage and navigation is free flowing.
To help conserve water in the area, please share locks where possible and unless signage is displayed advising otherwise. Please ensure paddles are fully closed once you have passed through a lock. It's helpful to aim for minimal contact when navigating through locks by ensuring gates are fully open when passing through, pushing gates open using a boat can damage the gate lining, increasing its leakage.
Description
Please be advised, due to repeated vandalism in the area, Locks 65 to Lock 79 on the Rochdale Canal is available for passage by prior arrangement only.
Padlocks have been placed on Locks 65 to Lock 79 to reduce the risk of vandalism and to ensure water resources in the surrounding areas.
Passages must be booked 24 hours in advance and are available to book Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4pm. If you require a weekend passage, please call us by 4pm on the Friday before to arrange.
Please note, this will not be an assisted passage.

Please note navigation is currently closed between Lock 61 and Lock 64, we anticipate works to be complete by 5 June. Please check the online notice for updates regarding these works.
