Unfortunately we have encountered some issues with the installation of the new gates which requires additional work to be carried out to the lock chamber masonry. Once completed, the new cills will be fitted and grouted in, equipment and stop planks will be removed and the canal re-watered.

We expect the navigation to be re-opened by 4pm on Tuesday 16th March.

Following delays to the start of this stoppage, due to freezing conditions and the breakdown of one of our craft, our construction team needs an additional week to complete all the works required.

The navigation will now re-open on 12th March 2021.

Description

Installation of new bottom gates, carry out improvements to lock ladders, pointing of masonry/brickwork and installation of fenders.
