The charity making life better by water

Opportunity to join our new Youth Panel

2019 is The Year of Green Action and we want to recruit young people aged 16 to 25 to our first ever national Youth Panel. The panel will lead an innovative programme of environmental youth social action throughout the year.

The young environmentalists will help to shape and lead campaigns, acting as ambassadors for green action at the Trust, and get to work closely with teams across the country.

Lucie Unsworth, national youth engagement manager at the Trust, said: "We are really excited to be launching our first ever national Youth Panel. The Canal & River Trust is proud to provide a great free space for everyone to get outside and enjoy the beautiful waterways we have on our doorsteps.

"Our research tells us life is better by water, but we are not immune to the problems being faced by oceans and seas across the world and we face daily challenges with litter and plastics blighting our waterways and harming our wildlife. We want our future generations to be able to enjoy our waterways and be proud of where they live and the difference they can make.

"Young people of today are the ones that will have to clear up the mess left behind by all of us, and we want to listen to their views and ideas for how we can do things better. It's essential that we have their help in shaping the future of our waterways for everyone."

Founding members

The Youth Panel members will get the opportunity to be founding members of our first ever national youth panel and will help shape and protect the charity's beautiful assets for future generations. Panel members will get to act as an ambassador for young people's ideas and opinions in the Trust. They will get to work alongside key decision makers in the Trust and experience leading campaigns that can have a national and local impact.
