Castle Narrowboats
We are a family run business offering a warm and personal service. Choose from our superb fleet of canal boats, which are perfect for cruising the canal, whether you are looking for an involving family holiday or a quiet break with friends. Named after some of Wales’ most spectacular castles, our holiday hire narrowboats offer a choice of sizes, number of berths and even propulsion.
Pets are welcome on most of our boats and each boat has full central heating, LCD television and DVD, radio/CD. In the well equipped galley you will find a full size cooker, fridge, microwave and toaster. Freshly Laundered bed linen is provided and there is a 240v power supply for running low wattage items.
Our boats are thoroughly cleaned and maintained to an exceptionally high standard before you arrive to ensure you enjoy your holiday. They are perfectly sized for exploring this winding canal with cruiser sterns for easy access. A comprehensive briefing is always provided and we will take time to make sure you are happy before we leave you.

We have been running Castle Narrowboats since 2004 with our son Joe and daughter Annabel. We moved over from Bristol and absolutely love it here, it is a beautiful canal and people here are really friendly. The help we get from our family is invaluable and our dog, Ozzie thinks he helps out too! We pride ourselves in offering a professional and quality service and look forward to welcoming you onto our boats.
Located in Gilwern, ten minutes from Abergavenny, our base is ideally situated mid-way along the canal, enabling you to cruise in either direction. Our hire base and gift shop is our home and our private wharf allows for easy loading, unloading & car parking.
