Aqua Narrowboats is a company specialising in luxury canal boat hire and holidays, narrowboat experience days and bespoke new boat sales, all operating from their workshop and Marine Repairs Centre at Mercia Marina on the Trent and Mersey Canal, Derbyshire.
A company concentrating on growing British talent and skills to produce beautifully crafted bespoke canal boats and offering the most luxurious canal boat holidays on the canals.
Their luxurious fleet of 5 star hire narrowboats is almost entirely owned by sponsored boat owners who have requested high specification boats for their own personal use, therefore you are able to hire the most beautiful boats on the canals. From their base there is a range of canal networks for you to enjoy your narrowboat holiday including the Four Counties Ring, the Staffordshire Ring, the Leicester Ring, plus many there and back routes. The canals have many attractions and places to eat along the way, such as Drayton Manor Park and Shugborough Hall, making your canalboat hire experience an adventure.
Narrowboat hire is available from March to October, from November to March Experience Half Day Cruises are available which includes a 3 hour cruise on one of our luxury narrowboats, 30 minutes boat handling skills under supervision for each guest, demonstration and a team try at 'working the lock', canal history and complimentary tea, coffee and cakes.
Aqua Narrowboats specialise in a personal boat building service: a custom made bespoke boat package, with all costs and optional extras given, to a layout and design of your choice. This enables you to think about your boat design and prioritise features to fit your budget.
The Marine Repairs Centre caters for all your narrowboat repairs: with a team of skilled engineers and carpenters, Aqua Narrowboats can carry out engine services, engine installations, engine repairs, electrical work, refurbishments, stove fittings, new batteries, blacking of the hull and boat carpentry such as new kitchens, bathrooms and wooden floors to name just a few.

ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT Narrowboat hire guests are met on arrival at the marina and directed to a parking area near to the boat. Assistance given for loading if needed. The boat is approached along a jetty. The narrowboats have restricted accessibility for people using wheelchairs due to stairs at each entrance and the narrow width of the corridors. There is limited access for people with mobility restrictions due to stairs at both entrances, however, the stairs are graduated at both the stern and bow and a hand rail provided to assist with accessibility, safety and comfort. Please be aware that canal moorings are not always against flat concrete surfaces – often moorings are against grass banks that can be uneven and slippery when wet. A boarding plank is available for all guests who would find it easier to access the boat once moored. Assistance dogs are welcome to stay on our boats. We have an apron at the rear of the boat for added safety. We have a strong downlighters throughout the boats to assist visually. The TV has teletext, subtitles and remote control. Boating instructions are given in a DVD format, booklet and one to one tuition.
