The five locks at Seend on the Kennet & Avon Canal were once a hive of activity with trade. Today, they are a picture of tranquility.
Cycle a mile along the towpath to Semington Bottom Lock, the junction with the Wilts & Berks Canal. Long abandoned, this canal is now being restored by volunteers from the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust, one of the many other waterway Trusts we work with.
Not far either way along the canal are some more of our pretty places to visit: Dundas Aqueduct, Bradford on Avon, Avoncliff Aqueduct and of course, Caen Hill.

Wildlife spotting:
The Kennet & Avon Canal is important for wildlife conservation. Look out for kingfishers, mute swans, coots, moorhens, herons and if you're quick, you may spot a water vole - they're very illusive.

By car - there's a small parking area next to the bridge and a car park for customers of the pub
