Our contractors have now completed the repair to the culvert, and the canal is now open from Lock 45 to Lock 17,

Please be advised that the moorings are due to be dredged following the damage caused by the boxing day floods, some moorings may be inaccessible and we would recommend taking caution when mooring in this area.

Description

On-going investigation works following the Boxing Day flooding has discovered a damaged culvert between Lock 37 and 38 on the Rochdale canal.

The damage is being investigated and a solution designed to repair this culvert, the damage here has meant that water levels in this pound are unable to be maintained and as such the section of canal is closed until the repairs have been carried out.

Boats can moor above lock 35 and below lock 45.
