We are pleased to advise navigation is now open between Bridge 26 and 27 on the Macclesfield Canal in Bollington following this mornings repair works.
Our teams will continue to monitor the location and over the winter months, we will be planning further investigations and more permanent repairs works.
We politely request customers to approach the area with caution and to listen to instructions from our staff on site, when passing through this afternoon.
We would like to thank our boating customers for their continued support and understanding whilst our teams have made the area safe and completed the holding repairs.

We want to provide a further update on the leak at Bollington. Our teams are currently loading clay into boats and transporting to the site. During this process, we will need to remove the stop planks to allow our craft to apply a holding repair to the affected area. While work is being completed, please do not enter the area between Bridges 26 and 27.
As soon as our team has completed the holding repairs and we are satisfied that they hold successfully, we aim to provide a window of passage for waiting boats, which we expect to be tomorrow afternoon, 21 June.
Boats needing to pass through should be ready to proceed and near either side of the closure. Please be considerate when mooring, while waiting as during the morning our teams will be using our work boats to transport materials to the site.
We are hoping the holding repairs will allow the canal to remain open for the rest of the main boating months. We will only be able to update on this as the repairs progress over the next few days.
A further update will be provided tomorrow afternoon, 21 June, once the holding repair is confirmed successful and arrangements for the passage are finalised

Our teams have been working yesterday to try and stabilise the significant leak between Bridge 26 and 27 on Macclesfield Canal at Bollington, which has been successful.
We are now in the process of arranging dams to be installed onsite which will enable our engineers to drain the affected section of the canal, to investigate the cause of the leak and organise a method of repair.
Following these investigations, we will be in a better position to provide the timescales of repair.
A further update on investigations will be provided Monday 24th June
