The repair/fix to bottom gates has been successfully completed and the lock has reopened and is available for normal use.
PLEASE NOTE: a bracket has been manufactured and fixed to the downstream towpath side gate. This gate should be closed first before the offside gate. The bracket will ensure the gates meet together and prevent them crossing over each other.
If you close the offside downstream gate before the towpath side you will find it is not possible to bring the gates together.
Canal and River Trust apologise for any inconvenience this closure may have caused you.

Divers attended site today to survey lower lock gates and cill, and check upper gates and cill.
No substantial damage was found but several car tyres and two large logs were removed from between lock gates and cill.
A bracket is being manufactured and fitted to the lower lock gates to prevent them crossing over in the future, hopefully before the end of this week to allow the lock to reopen and be safely used by all boaters.
This notice will be updated no later than 4pm Wednesday 16th August.
