Our investigations today at the Anderton boat lift have identified a minor issue which affects the operation of both gates. Whilst this has unfortunately resulted in a need to temporarily close the lift operation the Trust's maintenance teams are sourcing the replacement parts required and we expect that we will be able to re-open the west side of the lift tomorrow afternoon (10th May). repairs to the East river gate will continue.
Bookings remain offline whilst we work through the backlog of the affected bookings. If you require an urgent passage, please call our North West Customer Support Team on 0303 0404040 and we shall see if we have any available slots. Please note, this will not be a guaranteed passage, however our teams will do what they can to assist.
An update will be provided tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 10 May.

We are happy to report that we now understand that this breakdown happened due to snag from our previous winter works and that we have a solution in place.
We need further time to implement the solution and during this period one side of the lift will be inoperable.
We will still operate the remaining side but this means that passages will be limited. We will now start to move the boats that have been affected by the closure over the past 24 hours through and each boat will be contacted to and issued a timeslot. Once all our waiting boats complete their passage, we will look to open up the bookings system to allow further boats to go through.
We expect any boats booked up to and including Wednesday May 10th to be affected.
Once again, thank you for your patience on this matter and we will issue a further update Tomorrow (Sunday 7th) at 11am.
