Our Operative has been recovering water levels throughout the day by sending water down from the summit pound at Walsden.
Levels will continue to recover over night and allow navigation to resume on Sunday 30th Sunday 2023. Padlocks will be removed from the lock around 9am, subject to water levels being maintained overnight.
Please can we ask that boaters in the area are considerate with any movement of water. Failure to do so will jeopardise our ability to resume navigation on Sunday.
Thank you for your patience.

Due to low pound levels in the Hebden Bridge area Lock 9 will remain closed today whilst we recover water levels.
We have an Operative working upstream to replenish the levels which involves moving water down from the summit. Lock 9 has therefore been chained-up to prevent further water loss whilst this recovery operation takes place.
We expect this recovery to last all day on Saturday 29th April 2023, and will provide an update on re-opening towards the end of the day.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

There are currently low water levels at Lock 8.
The operative team are carrying out thorough checks on the paddles and gates on Lock 8 and Lock 7 to ensure that there are no issues with leaks.
Once the check on Lock 8 has been carried out, we will be locking up Lock 8 to ensure that the pound is able to recover. This may take up to 24 hours to see water levels improve to their original levels.
