We are pleased to advise that our team have made good progress with these works. They replaced a broken gate, and ground paddles, on lock 2, 3, and 6. Now these works are complete, it will allow the gates to operate correctly and prevent the further leakage in the future.
Demobilisation of site is now taking place and navigation will reopen on Friday 27th January at 4pm.
Thank you for your patience whilst we carried out these essential works

We are very sorry to advise that an extension is required to this stoppage. The paddles that have been produced require some modifications which our team are able to do but this means additional time will be required to fit and refit. We have also experienced an issue with the upper operating assembly pivot pins, they have perished. These are critical components for the operation of the locks. The team will fabricate new pins.
We were only able to access and see these issues once the water levels were lowered and the plastic covers removed from the top of the gates. This work is essential to ensure that the locks are operational during the summer.
We hope you can understand our decision to extend this stoppage and carry out this work and apologise for any inconvenience this causes to our boating customers.
