We are pleased to advise our teams have been successful in their repair at Bugsworth Basin.

The leak which caused sink hole has now been repaired with clay cut-off trench and access to the basin track has resumed.

The clay will require time to set, and our teams will return to site and remove the stop planks on Sunday 6 November.

Navigation will resume by Monday 7 November.

Please be advised our teams will be returning to site to start the necessary repairs to the leak on Tuesday 1 November.

A further update will be provided Friday 4 November.

Our teams are progressing well with the repair and have filled in the sink hole today, however during the work we have identified a leak from the canal at this location.

Our teams will return to site next week to stem the leak with our specialist contractors.

Description

Please be advised, to ensure the safety of our customers, navigation on to the Bugsworth Arm of the Peak Forest Canal is closed due to a sink hole occurring near to the Basin.

Navigation has been closed off at Bridge 56 on to the arm, with stop planks placed within the canal as a precaution.

Our engineers are working with external utility companies to investigate the cause and an update on progress made will be provided by Friday 21 October.
