Network rail have informed us that they experienced difficulties with closing the bridge for Rail traffic this morning,
Therefore to mitigate further issues during this spell of hot weather they will do one movement a day between 0800-0830 with staff on site.
This will continue until Monday morning 11/09 when this will be reviewed with the cooler weather arriving back.
If this changes we will update the notice.

We have received information from Network Rail that a morning passage will be possible during the hot weather. This will be at 9am.
We will update this notice when passages will be returning to twice daily.

Network Rail have advised that there will be no swing available until 12 hours after the temperature drops below 26 degrees.
It may be possible to be swung in mornings, this will be a decision of Network Rail.
Boaters can be advised to keep in contact with the lockkeeper, who can advise on updates.

The bridge continues to close when the temperature on track rises above 26 degrees. This week in particular we are expecting high temperatures and therefore Network Rail will not be able to operate the structure.

Due to the extreme weather forecast, there will be no 1pm passage available on Saturday 10th June, Sunday 11th June and Monday 12th June.
The 9am passage will still go ahead on these days.

Network Rail are on strike:
13th & 14th December
16th & 17th December
24th, 25th, 26th & 27th December
3rd & 4th January
6th & 7th January
This will mean there will be no passages through the Rail Bridge and a navigation closure will be put in place on these dates.
The assisted passages will resume after the industrial action has taken place at 9:00am and 13:00pm daily.

Network Rail are on strike from the 4th November until the 10th November.
This will mean there will be no passages through the Rail Bridge on that date. The assisted passages will resume 11th November 9:00am and 13:00pm

Network Rail have informed us there is no change to the restricted passage times - this is due to a long term maintenance issue, therefore passage will be at 9am and 1pm daily.

We have been advised by Network Rail that the current heatwave is now forecast to extend and include Sunday 14/8/22.
This means that on Wednesday 10/8/22 – Sunday 14/8/22 they will only be able to operate the bridge once a day at 0900 hours.
From Monday 15/8/22 they will revert to operating a maximum of 2 times a day at 0900 and 1300 so long as the air temperature is no higher than 26 degrees.
In addition to this due to Industrial action planned to take place next week on Thursday 18th August and Saturday 20th August the bridge will not be available to operate on those dates.
Assuming the temperature is no higher than 26 degrees then the operating times next week will be as follows:
Monday 15/8/22 – Wednesday 17/8/22 at 0900 and 1300
Thursday 18/8/22 No openings
Friday 19/8/22 at 0900 and 1300
Saturday 20/8/22 No openings
Sunday 21/8/22 at approximately 0900 and 1300

From Sunday 14/8/22 they will revert to the existing instruction whereby the bridge is operated a maximum of 2 times a day at approximately 0900 and 1300 so long as the air temperature is no higher than 26 degrees.

Network rail have informed us that they will allow 2 passages per day until the bridge has been fully repaired. These will be 9:00am and 13:00pm when their contractors will be onsite to facilitate this. These times are earlier in the day before the heat impacts on the operation of the bridge.

Network rail have advised that unfortunately the bridge remains closed, they are in discussions with contractors and will update us with any news as soon as possible.

We have been informed by Network Rail that due to breakdowns and a safety issue the bridge will be closed until contractors have rectified the issue.

We have received updated information from Network Rail for the operation of Keadby Rail Bridge as follows:
- Keadby Rail bridge shall only be operated on two occasions per day at 09:00 and 13:00. Boats wishing to make passage should be at the bridge for this time. Any boats arriving after this time will need to wait for the next passage window.
- Keadby Canal bridge shall be closed (not operated for canal traffic) following a forecast of greater than 26 degrees air temperature.
- Once closed due to an air temperature of 26 degrees the bridge shall not be operated until there has been a period of 12 hours below a forecast of 26 degrees air temperature.
These operating criteria will be in use until such a time as we are advised differently by Network Rail.
