Impound Station Footbridge closed

The hording has now been removed and the bridge is reopened. Thank you for your patience during these works. 

The works on this bridge have been completed. However, due to the current weather conditions and material that has to be removed, it is unsafe to remove the hoarding and unlock the bridge at this time. Once the wind has dropped the hoarding will be removed and the bridge will be reopened. This will be in the next few days. 

Following the approval for access from Third Party landowners, a crane is booked to install the new steelwork at the impounding station bridge for 10/01/24. We are hopeful that the works will be completed before the end of January 2024

Works are still planned to recommence as soon as possible. This delay is due to circumstances outside of the Trust’s control. We continue to work with third party land owners to gain the access required for these works. Our contactors are also exploring other possible options

We can confirm works are booked to recommence week commencing 4th December 2023. A crane will be on site for one day to lift the equipment into place We are hopeful that the works to complete the installation will be completed by mid-December.

Factors beyond our control have made the original method undeliverable and we are working with adjacent land owners to get permission for plant to allow us to complete the works

The Trust had hoped to replace the Impounding Station Footbridge earlier this year, but like many organisations and individuals, the challenging financial situation for us, as a charity, has made this impossible. We have now, thankfully, secured the funding required for this and this will now take place from 25/10/23 to 28/11/23 with route closures and redirections put in place during this time.

We can confirm all finances have been approved and materials have been ordered. We are hopeful that this work will be completed in September.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this matter has caused and we understand your frustrations. Given the financially challenging position the Trust find ourselves in this year, these repairs could not have been undertaken any quicker. 

Update – This bridge will be closed indefinitely due to safety reasons. Engineers are organising inspections and liaising with the council to work together to resolve this. Any new updates will be added when more information is available
