Huddersfield Canal Towpath Improvement

The works will be carried by two teams working on each section at the same time.

Section 1 - Lock 15/Titanic Mills to Britannia Rd Bridge.

First Section Start – 09/03/22.

Completion – 27/07/22.

Britannia Rd Bridge to Waterside Bridge #42 (to the East of Lock 21) is used by residents, the Pharmacy and Northern Soul Café . This section (200mtrs circa) will not be completed until May/Jun ’22.

As this section is only 2km in length, there are no clear or obvious routes on or off, so this section will remain closed until the completion date of 27/07/22

Section 2 - Lock 15/Titanic Mills to Lock 10E/Milnsbridge)..

Closure/complete trail holes – 28/02/22

First Section Start – 15/03/22.

Completion – 27/07/22.

As this section is only 2km in length, there are no clear or obvious routes on or off, so this section will remain closed until the completion date of 27/07/22 too.

The Canal and River Trust are closing this section of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal Towpath to undertake surface improvements, during the construction period between 28/02/22 and 19/08/22.

The proposed multi user route will cover approximately 4km between Brittania Road Bridge to Library Lock, Lock 11 East

The contractor will be using boats for the transfer of Plant and Materials.

Could skippers of all crafts, please slow down and approach the area with caution and delays of up to 20 minutes may be experienced while equipment is transferred to the site.

This will affect pedestrians and cyclists and all affected visitor and permanent moorings will be closed throughout this time.
