Phase 1 has been completed and our contractors have advised the lock can be reopened earlier than expected.

The lock is now open and operational.

Thank you for your patience while these necessary works were undertaken.

Contractors are being mobilised to start Phase 1 of the repair at Lock 29E starting tomorrow, Saturday 31st July, and completing Sunday 1st August.

Phase 1 will involve filling the nearside void and forming a grout curtain, allowing the canal to be reopened to navigation on Monday 2nd August.

Phase 2 of the repair will begin on Tuesday 3rd August, with a duration of 5 days, and will involve stabilising any potential voids that have occurred due to the leak to help ensure we minimise the risk of experiencing this issue again in future.

Whilst Phase 2 is being undertaken, the navigation will remain open for passage.

Description

Unfortunately the repair undertaken last week to the main void in the pound has failed and the other void has deteriorated, and due to low water levels the navigation has been reclosed. Further updates on the repair required and length of closure will be provided as soon as they are available. We apologises for any inconvenience caused.
