Lock No 2, Bridge Lock, Dee Branch

Our teams are responding to reports of water loss on the Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal. A leak has been identified at the Lock 2 bottom end gate and has been attended to by our Customer Operations team.

We will continue to monitor water levels at this location and have locked the ground paddle to prevent further water loss.

Please be advised Lock 2, Bridge Lock is non-operational and navigation through this lock towards the River Dee remains closed.

Our teams have managed to stabilise the water levels on the Dee Branch following recent reports of water loss.

We are aware that the lift bridge above the river lock on the Dee Branch is listed as a destination within the IWA Silver Propellor Challenge. This location is unreachable whilst repair works are ongoing, and we have notified the IWA.

Please be reminded Lock 2 is closed to navigation and should not be operated. Operation may lead to loss of water in the pound.

Please be reminded navigation remains closed at Lock 2, Bridge Lock on the Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal and navigation is not permitted to the River Dee via these locks.
