Lock 2, Minworth, Birmingham & Fazeley Canal

We are very sorry to advise that we are having to extend the end date of this stoppage to 1st April 2022. The stoppage was affected by Covid early on and also the issues on site at Napton with the pumps failing has had a knock affect to Minworth.  Although our teams and contractors worked over the weekend trying to recover our programme, this delay has run over into the Minworth stoppage. Please accept our apologies for this delay and the late notice on the extension, the completion of this work is vital to avoid any summer disruption. The Trust are trying their best to minimise further impact as best they can with this extension and weekend working will be taking place.

As we come to the end of our stoppages we will be reviewing this year’s overruns and will be putting measures in place to improve on this during the next winter works.

The precise dates for this Stoppage are now known.  Stoppage will run from 31/01/2022 – 18/03/2022.

This stoppage is not currently going ahead as planned. However, we are exploring all possible delivery options to try and complete this stoppage with minimal customer impact. The dates on this stoppage have been altered to the full Post Christmas period and a further update will be issued once we can communicate out the precise dates for this stoppage.

A stoppage is required to carry out gate replacements, chamber brickwork and ladder improvements.
