The summer timetable will finish on the Monday 1st November and the Winter Timetable will commence the following day on the Tuesday 2nd November.

A Canal & River Trust lock keeper is present on the following days:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday of each week between the dates above (No booking required). On these days the operating times for Tuel lock are first boat entry at 8.30am with last passage at 3:30pm, with except of Sunday where first passage is 10am.

An online booking system is in operation for passage on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday.

To make a booking, please sign in to the online licensing pages and click on 'my boats', followed by the 'bookings' section.

It is essential that anyone requiring passage during this time books at least 24 hours in advance in order to ensure we will have the team members onsite.

Tuel Lock (Lock 3), Sowerby Bridge is operated by a Canal & River Trust lock keeper. Please follow the local signage and the lock keeper’s instructions.

Do not enter the tunnel (below lock 3) whilst boats are in lock 3.

Locks 1 and 3 will be padlocked outside of the normal entry hours specified above.
