Description
A section of towpath wash wall between Bridges 18 & 19 has failed at the base and is rotating causing voiding in the towpath. The voids have been repaired, but the wall is still unstable.
Works are required to remove the masonry wall which has rotated for a distance of 33m. The masonry above the waterline is to be retained for reinstatement. The masonry below waterline is to be removed to allow for installation of structural piles.
Once the pilling has been completed the work, we will be able to re-instate the towpath surface.
There is a separate section of wall approximately 24m in length near to bridge 19 where the tarmac surface has cracked allowing water ingress. The tarmac is going to be repaired to prevent further damage occurring.
There will be no access along this section of the towpath while these works take place.
Boaters, please proceed with care and follow advice on site.
