Further to the notice below, please be advised that contractors are still on site and are expecting to need to continue work over the weekend.

However, the navigation is now clear, the navigation and towpath are open.

The contractors may need to temporarily close the towpath and navigation for brief periods of time over the weekend for safety reasons as they continue to work on trees on the offside

These closures will be kept as short as possible and will be implemented via a banksman on the towpath

Unfortunately contractors have not been able to mobilise the required equipment to site this week and the area remains closed.

We will continue to work with the contractors to ensure the trees are cleared and made safe as soon as practical.

We thank you for your continued patience.

Description

Please be advised that following strong winds last week we are aware that some trees have fallen across the navigation either side of bridge 141. There has been some destabilisation of the offside bank which is affecting 3 other trees which have the potential to fall over the navigation and towpath. We have closed the towpath due to these safety concerns.

We have concerns that one of the fallen trees may have damaged the canal bed and are working with contractors to ensure we have an appropriate plan to protect the canal during the removal of this tree.

You are welcome to contact us on enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk if you would like to discuss this information with a member of our Customer Service Team.
