Winnington Swing Bridge, Weaver Navigation

Works to the ducts that carry the cables which control the traffic signals at Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation are now complete and navigation has resumed for boats with an air draught of 9ft 0ins / 2.74m or lower.

The local authority is awaiting their contractor to re-fix the ducts back to the navigation bed. Whilst repairs remain ongoing, navigation will remain closed.

The local authority’s contractors have been on site to repair the cables, and an additional contractor is scheduled to re-fix the ducts back to the navigation bed. Whilst repairs remain ongoing, navigation will remain closed.

Our teams are working with the local authority to investigate the issue with the duct that carries the cables which control the traffic signals at Winnington Swing Bridge on the Weaver Navigation. The repairs are more extensive than initially thought, and the local authority needs to carry out works to the cables before they can be re-fixed to the navigation bed. Whilst a method of repair is being organised, navigation will remain closed.
