Collapsed Lock Landing & towpath closure, Woodside Mills - Elland

Repairs to the Woodside Mills lock landing and associated towpath, which were damaged during Storm Ciara, have been completed.

The lock landing and towpath from Woodside Mills to Ellan are open for normal use.

There have been unforseen complications which have caused contractors delays to the demolition works to the adjacent mill.

Ground investigation works have been carried out and repairs to the Woodside Mills lock landing and associated towpath, which were damaged during Storm Ciara, are due to be completed by March 2023.

Due to unforseen complications with these works, teams are now due to deliver repair works by early next year.

A towpath diversion is still in place around the broken permanent lock landing at Woodside Mills (Bridge 3) to Elland (Bridge 2).

Towpath remains closed, but a diversion is in place.

We will update this notice when we have further information.

A towpath diversion is still in place around the broken permanent lower lock landing from Figure of 3 top lock and Horbury Basin.

Towpath remains closed, but a diversion is in place.

The towpath is open for use.

There is still a temporary lock landing in use as the repair to the permanent lock landing has not yet been undertaken

It is anticipated that the repair of the lock landing and towpath will be completed during Spring 2021.

The temporary landing continues to be in use and the towpath diversion remains in place.

Repairs to the collapsed lock landing and towpath are required.

It is anticipated that the works will be completed by Spring 2021. 

The towpath will be closed until the works have been carried out and a diversion route and signage will be in place from Bridge 3 Woodside Mills to Elland Bed Centre.

We have been advised by the Contractor that this work will now extended until 31st March.

We have been advised by the Contractor that this work will now be carried out between the 13th January and  31st January.

Demolition of the Malting's Building will be taking place and it is necessary to close the towpath to ensure the safety of the public. There will a diversion in place.

Restrictions will also be in place on the navigation. There may be delays of up to 20 minutes whilst activities halt to allow safe passage.

Please can skippers of all craft slow down and approach the area with caution.
