Updates

14/11/2019 15:04

We are pleased to advise the repairs to Culvert 126 and the relining of the canal bed are complete ahead of schedule and navigation is now open between Bridge 64 and 65 on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Our engineers require a short closure next week to be able to complete an inspection of Bridge 65, Weavers Bridge.

You can see details of this here; Bridge 65, Weavers Bridge, Leeds and Liverpool Canal

As a result of water tracking outside the culvert, material has eroded from the towpath, creating a void and making this unsuitable for pedestrians. This will require additional work on site to repair. Please be aware the towpath has now been closed for safety reasons.

Works to the canal bed above Culvert 126 will commence this week, with the culvert liner being installed next week. This will be followed by placing and compacting sealing clay and re-watering prior to de-mobilising the site.

22/10/2019 14:58

As a result of the culvert failure, the navigation between Bridges 64 and 65 was closed on 19th October 2019.

We have now brought forward the winter stoppage (originally planned for January 2020) to enable the re-lining of the canal bed over the line of the culvert.

Description

A closure is required to undertake the relining of the canal bed over the line of the culvert (Culvert 126).
