Updates

We are pleased to confirm the navigation at Netherton Swing Bridge is now open, without restriction. The work to install the electric cable has been completed sooner than expected.Thank you for your patience.

11/03/2020 16:30

The upgrades at Netherton Swing Bridge include the replacement of the hydraulic and electrical equipment, and smart new barriers and housing can be seen at the bridge.

Unfortunately, due to unexpected delays in fitting the mechanical and electrical equipment and issues with the mains electric supply, we need to extend the closure until 20th March. This will allow time for full testing of the equipment to ensure its safe operation.

Please also be aware that, from 20th March until 23rd March, the navigation will be open but boat movements will be restricted to between 8am-4pm daily while the new mains electric cable is installed across the road. Our contractor will be on site during these times and will open the bridge as required. The bridge will be locked outside of these hours.

We appreciate your understanding and patience with this change to plan and apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.

Description

Carry out mechanical and electrical improvements to the swing bridge.

Please note the revised dates for this stoppage.
