Updates

11/12/2019 12:20

We will be taking the opportunity of this closure to carry out additional leak repairs on the top and bottom gates at Lock 51, in addition to the planned repairs at Lock 53 and the pump above Lock 54. New liners will be fitted on the top gates and new timbers fitted on the bottom gates.

As a result, and in order to provide full dewatering for the works being carried out at the pumps above Lock 54, we need to extend the end of the closure until 13th March 2020.

Please also be aware, due to the extent of the stoppages in this area, the navigation will be closed from Lock 51 to Lock 63 during the whole period. For safety reasons, no boats will be permitted to moor in this section during this time so will need to be moved to alternative safe moorings prior to 6th January 2020.

We accept that this is likely to be inconvenient for some customers and very much appreciate everyone's support to enable these important works to proceed on time in this busy period.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact us on 01452 318012 or enquiries.walessouthwest@canalrivertrust.org.uk
