Updates

30/01/2020 16:07

We will be working on Saturday, 1st February to complete the handrail repairs on the Aqueduct. The navigation will be open but, for safety reasons, there may be some short delays while we move our craft to enable boats to pass. Please follow instructions by our staff on site.

Please be aware, also, that the towpath will be closed while the repairs are being finished.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Description

A range of works will be carried out on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct during January and early February 2020. This will affect the navigation as follows.

From 06/01/2020 to 31/01/2020: Handrail repairs, fender replacement and drainage installation.

The aqueduct will remain in water during these works and navigation will be restricted only between 9am and 3.30pm on weekdays. The navigation will be kept open outside these times and at weekends.

The towpath will be closed whilst work is being carried out.

From 03/02/2020 to 14/02/2020: A full inspection of the bed and structure of the aqueduct.

The aqueduct will be fully dewatered during these works, the navigation will be closed and passage will not be possible. The towpath will also be closed for the duration of the closure.
