Following advice from our engineers, who have been monitoring Lock 4, Hurleston Locks, we want to ensure continued passage of boats through this lock and the safety of our customers.

From Monday 15 April, the lock flight between locks 1 and 4 will only be open between the hours of 08:00 until 17:00 when our trained team will be available to assist.

Outside of these hours, the lock flight will be closed to boats.

Thank you for your assistance during this period.

Description

Due to complexities in delivering the works at Lock 4, Hurleston Locks, on the Llangollen Canal, within the stoppage window this winter, the works are unfortunately deferred to Winter 2019/20.

As a result, the lock remains narrow and potentially width restrictive for some craft; please note that a width restriction of 6ft 10" remains in place. For safety reasons, it is extremely important that boaters are aware of their dimensions before attempting to pass through this lock in either direction.

The Trust will continue to monitor the lock, with our lock-keepers available to assist any boats that get into difficulties using it.
