Unfortunately the planned works to make safe the structure have been delayed. It is now anticipated that these will take place on Monday 29th or Tuesday 30th October, this will enable the canal and towpath to re-open on Wednesday 31st October

Our engineers are continuing to liaise with the owners of the bridge structure. The owners are planning to carry works to make the structure safe, these works are expected to start next week. The canal and towpath will need to remain closed until it's made safe for our users to pass underneath.

We hope to be able provide further update on Friday 26th October.

Our engineers are currently liaising with the owners of the bridge structure. The bridge and canal will need to remain closed until it's made safe for our users to pass underneath.

Description

Due to falling masonry from a third party owned bridge, we need to close the towpath and canal to our users for safety reasons while Manchester City Council carry out investigations to make the bridge safe.

The towpath will be closed between Bridge 94, Minsull Street Bridge and Dale Street Bridge.

The canal will be closed between Locks 92 & 84.

We hope to be able to provide a further update on Monday.
