Updates
26/07/2018 09:14
Further to our recent update we have had to introduce a full closure between Lock 7 and Lock 11 until further notice.
The water levels have not improved overnight as we had anticipated and the canal will remain closed for today.
This will be reviewed tomorrow morning and we will provide a further update.

Unfortunately the water levels have dropped so low we have had to close passage between Lock 7 and Lock 11 today from 25th July. This is to ensure the water levels do not drop any further.
We will provide an update tomorrow morning. If the water levels have recovered, the padlocks will be removed and the current restriction of re-opening between Lock 7 and Lock 11 at 9am until 4pm, will continue.
We apologise for the disruption this will cause and we would like to thank our customers for their ongoing patience and support
Description
Further to our recent update we wanted to confirm that further controls will be introduced on the Rochdale Canal from Tuesday 17th July.
We are introducing overnight closures between Lock 7 and Lock 11 in the Hebden bridge area of the Rochdale canal Monday to Sunday until further notice.
The first locks each evening will be put on at 4pm and our teams will work with boaters in this section after that time to ensure their passage out. Moorings are available immediately below these locks for people arriving after 4pm.
The canal will be reopened at 9am on each subsequent morning.
These restrictions are necessary so that we can endeavour to maintain navigation for the rest of the season. We will continue to monitor the water resource position and update as necessary.
If you want to know more about this issue or the canal generally please contact our office at Red Bull 0303 040 4040
