Anyone keen to try have a go at Nordic Walking, canoeing, fishing or Tai Chi and yoga should head to the Caen Hill Lock in Devizes next Saturday (29 June).
Nordic Walking UK will take people on long and short walks, while on the water the Braeside Education Centre offer canoe taster sessions and fishing experts give coaching session (with fishing kit and bait provided). And the fun happens away from the water too: bee-lovers will be able find out more about the hard-working insects from the Kennet Bee Keeping Association, There will also be Tai Chi and yoga ‘taster' sessions and art activities using clay and natural materials.
Canal & River Trust's community and youth events coordinator Max Ward explains more: “We might think we know about the K&A and its iconic Caen Hill Locks but there's more to discover. The waterside location has so much to offer, from the thrill of canoeing, the energy-boosting Nordic Walking or to the gentle movements in Tai Chi. If you're interested in nature we've something for you with our new woodland trails in Jubilee Wood. And families will enjoy the activities on the Admiral, our floating visitor centre, including finding out more about plastic and how we can all help to keep our waterways litter-free.
“We know that being by the water makes us happier so we're hoping our day will tempt as many people to come and experience that joy for themselves. Plus it's all for free!”
