Foxton and Lubenham Fields walk
A five mile circular walk through rural Leicestershire, near Market Harborough, taking in arable fields and pastures and finishing along a short section of the Grand Union Canal.
Don't forget to visit the historic Foxton Locks while you're in the area.
This walk is from iFootpath, a website and App to inspire people to get out and enjoy beautiful walks across the UK. Visit their website for full route information and maps.
The walk is relatively flat and follows field paths in the main, which will be very muddy after wet weather. The crop fields can become a bit more challenging to cross close to harvest time and the pastures will be holding cattle and sheep so take care with dogs. There are several kissing gates and 13 stiles (all of which have open fencing or adjacent lifting gates for dogs but some are quite high for the humans).
Approximate time 2 to 2.5 hours.
The walk starts from the village of Foxton at the junction of Main Street and Swingbridge Street alongside the church. There is parking available in the layby here (opposite the Black Horse) for about eight cars, otherwise park on the village roads with care for residents. If you want lunch before or after your walk, The Black Horse also has its own car park. Approximate post code LE16 7RD.
Start point: Main Street, Foxton
End point: Main Street, Foxton
Distance: five miles
