Leaving Purton head northwards, travelling through fields on either side of you. You’ll be able to see the Forest of Dean in the distance to your left.

After 2.5 miles you’ll reach Slimbridge, which has toilets and a café right next to the canal. A liitle way later you’ll pass The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Reserve where you’ll see many birds.

The next time you’ll meet civilisation is a few miles on at Saul Junction where there’s a large car park and café.
