Gloucester & Sharpness Canal - Bridge 3, Purton Lower Bridge to Bridge 24, Llanthony Lift Bridge

Please be advised that due to the extreme heat forecast for 10th – 13th August, boaters may experience some short delays on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal on these days.

Our colleagues will be working outdoors and manually operating bridges in some places, in the extreme heat bridge operation will take longer than normal to ensure their welfare and safety.

It is also very likely that a small number of bridges may expand in the extreme heat and could become unusable.

We advise that you travel earlier in the day, avoiding the higher temperatures in the afternoon.
