The dredging works have now been completed and the silt and debris have been removed.

The navigation is open.

21/05/2021 15:21

We are hoping to have the works completed by Monday 24th May, however this has been disrupted by the rising water levels that we are experiencing at the moment due to the poor weather.

We will update the notice when we receive further information on the progression of the works over the weekend.

14/05/2021 12:32

The Canal and River Trust dredging team are hoping to be on site on Tuesday 18th May/Wednesday 19th May to commence the works.

We will update the notice on Friday 21st May with further information.

02/05/2021 14:54

In addition to the silt build-up at the lock we have today (Sunday 2nd May 2021) been made aware of a sand bar in the river upstream of the lock.

With river levels currently low, and Bank Dole lock closed due to siltation, passage should not be attempted at this time.

Dregding of Beal will follow-on from the current Aire & Calder Navigation dredging programme towards the end of May 2021.

Further update will be provided after the bank holiday weekend.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Description

Due to a build up of silt debris behind the lock gates, passage is restricted to crafts of up to a dimension of 10ft 5" max.

Crafts exceeding these dimensions are unable proceed through.

We will update the notice when further information is received.
