Description

Please be advised we will be onsite at Bridge 172A, Big Lock Footbridge on the Trent & Mersey Canal to carry out Phase 1 of works to this Grade II listed bridge which has deteriorated and been closed and replaced by a temporary footbridge.

For Phase 1 of the restoration project, Big Lock Footbridge will be removed and taken to a specialist factory to be grit blasted. This will allow a thorough inspection and design for restoration. A specialist cradle is being fabricated to ensure the footbridge is stable to be lifted away. During these works the canal and towpath will remain open, however there will be occasional restrictions, for up to 2 hours, to ensure safety of the general public.

We politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and follow advice given by the onsite banksmen.
